Our Behavior Support System Tiers / Elements:
MOVING TO TIER 2?
Tier 2: Targeted Intervention – Processes and procedures designed to address behavioral issues of groups of students with similar behavior problems or behaviors that seem to occur for the same reasons (i.e. attention seeking, escape) and/or across similar settings.
Tier 2 interventions are practiced in small groups and are meant to get the student's behavior back to the tier 1 level. This tier consists of a smaller (5 to 15%) of higher-risk students.
The Humboldt Bay Area School Climate Project has begun to implement Tier 2 in our elementary and middle schools. Strategies include Rule School, Check-in/ Check-out, restorative circles, and full implementation of social skills curriculum.
